One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Ken Kesey

I was disturbed for days after reading this book. When I read this book I was ignorant (for the most part) to the way mental health was addressed back in the day. I am not sure what the answer is as to how we should be addressing mental health currently, but I am definitely more aware of what happens when the pendulum swings the other way—we should never want to go back to the 60’s. I think the mishandling of people in need during this era is why so many people are suffering today. It’s also astonishing what people thought was mentally ill. I think everyone should read this book. The ending will crush you—you have been warned.
